Using 4 mm needles and double knit wool throughout
Cast on 28 in green, then change to black.
K11 in black (B), K6 in yellow (Y), K11 in B
P11 in B, P1 in Y, P4 in B, P1 in Y, P11 in B
K11 in B, K1 in Y, K4 in B, K1 in Y, K11 in B
P11 in B, P6 in Y, P11 in B
Continue in green for the rest of the hat.
Inc, K6, inc, K13, inc, K6.  Purl next row.
Inc, K7, inc, K14, inc, K7.  Purl next row.
Inc, K8, inc, K15, inc, K8.  Purl next row.
Inc, K9, inc, K16, inc, K9.  Purl next row.
Inc, K10, inc, K17, inc, K10.  Purl next row.
Knit the next two rows
(P1, P2tog) repeat to end
(K2tog, K1) repeat to end
(P1, P2tog) repeat to end
(K1, K2tog) repeat to end.   
B & T tightly

Brim
Cast on 60 in green
(K3, K2tog) repeat to end. 
Knit the next row.
(K10, K2tog) repeat to end. 
Knit the next row.
(K2tog, K) repeat to end. 
Cast off.

Making Up:
Sew row ends together on both the crown and the brim. 
Oversew the brim to the crown.
