Instructions:
Crown
Using 4 mm needles
Cast on 28 in black double knit
Using contrast colour for band and starting with a knit row SS 4 rows.
Change to black and SS 7 rows
Knit the next two rows
(P1, P2tog) repeat to end
(K1, K2tog) repeat to end
(P2tog) repeat to end
B & T tightly

Brim
Cast on 45 in black
Knit 3 rows
Next row: (K1, K2tog) repeat to end
Cast off.

Making Up:
Sew row ends together on both the crown and the brim. 
Oversew the brim to the crown.
