Main hat
Using 4mm needles cast on 28 sts in red
Rows 1-2: Knit Rows 3-18: Starting with a knit row SS 16 rows Row 19: (K2tog) rpt to end (14 sts) Row 20: (P2tog) rpt to end (7 sts) B & T Hands - make 2 in red, cast on 10 sts leaving a long tail of wool Row 1: Cast off 5 sts, K to end (5sts) Row 2: P to end, cast on 5 sts (10sts) Row 3: Cast off 5 sts, K to end (5st) Rows 4, 6, 8, 10, 12 and 14: Same as row 2 Rows 5, 7, 9, 11, 13 same as row 3 Row 15: Cast off all sts leave a long tail of wool Top hat - In black cast on 8 sts Rows 1-4: Starting with a K row SS 4 rows Row 5: K5, inc, K to end of row (9sts) Row 6: P Row 7: K5, inc, K to end of row (10sts) Rows 8-10: Starting with a P row SS 3 rows Cast off |

Making Up Head: Sew row end together. Hands: To make up you will have 8 fingers fold in half right side out, and put 2 fingers together all the way along you will now have 4 fingers doubled. Over sew all up side and round the fingers and down other side. Sew on the sides of main hat. Take a look at picture if you’re not sure. Hat: Cut a strip of black felt. Sew row ends together and top lightly stuff and sew bottom up. Sew a few stitches through the felt brim then sew to the main hat. Face: Using black yarn embroider eyes on add a large red pompom and cut out a black mouth in felt and sew onto main hat. Take a look at the picture for guidance. |
