Instructions:
Main hat – Using 4mm needles, cast on 28 stitches in royal blue
Rows 1-2: Knit
Row 3: Change to black and knit row
Rows 4-5: Change to white starting with a purl row stocking stitch 2 rows
Row 6: Using black purl a row
Rows 7-8: Using white starting with a knit row stocking stitch 2 rows
Row 9: Using black knit a row
Rows 10-14: Change to royal blue and starting with a purl row stocking stitch 5 rows.
Row15: Change to black knit row
Rows 16-17: Change to white starting with a purl row stocking stitch 2 rows
Row 18: Change to black purl row
Rows 19-20: Change to white starting with a Knit row stocking stitch 2 rows.
Row 21: Change to black knit row. Break off black.
Row 22: Change to royal blue and purl row
Row 23: (K2tog)rpt to end (14sts)
Row 24: (P2tog)rpt to end (7sts)
B&T
Hands – make 2 in royal blue, cast on 10 sts leaving a long tail of wool
Row 1: Cast off 5 sts, K to end (5sts)
Row 2: P to end, cast on 5 sts (10sts)
Row 3: Cast off 5 sts, K to end (5st)
Rows 4, 6, 8, 10, 12 and 14: Same as row 2
Rows 5, 7, 9, 11, 13 same as row 3
Row 15: Cast off all sts leave a long tail of wool
Making Up:
Head: Sew up row ends inside out then turn right side out. Add 2 black felt circles for eyes and a small black circle mouth, and a small red pom-pom nose. Refer to picture.
Hands: To make up you will have 8 fingers fold in half right side out, and put 2 fingers together all the way along you will now have 4 fingers doubled. Over sew all up side and round the fingers and down other side. Sew on the sides of main hat. Take a look at picture if you’re not sure.
