Tree Decoration Hats ~ Designed by Zoe Dore
Zoe is fourteen, this is her first project after learning the basics of knitting.
Zoe dedicates this hat pattern to her Auntie Raine, who taught her to knit and adapted Jo’s Christmas Tree pattern.
Zoe also dedicates this pattern to Jo for allowing her Auntie Raine to adapt the pattern, Thank you.
Instructions:
Use number 9 (3.75 mm) or 8 (4.00 mm) needles and double knitting wool, colour of your choice. You will also need a 5.00 mm crocheting hook.
Cast on 28 stitches
Rows 1 to 4 – garter stitch (knit only)
Rows 5 to 10 – stocking stitch (knit row/purl row)
Row 11 – K1, K2tog, K to last 3 stitches K2tog, K1
Row 12 – P
Continue working rows 11 and 12 until you have 4 stitches on the needle
K2tog twice (2 sts)
P2tog (1 st)
Slip last stitch on to crocheting hook and chain 15 stitches, leaving a long tail to sew up, cut wool.
Making Up:
Thread a sewing needing and slip needle into first chain stitch to form a loop.
Sew seam and turn right way round.
This pattern makes a nice Innocent bottle topper and very recyclable. Zoe used multicoloured wool, and did not need to decorate. You can use plain wool and decorate with buttons, ribbon, bows, bell and beads. Have fun.
