Twiddlemuffs
You will never look at an odd bit of lace, a few buttons, a bit of ribbon or some beads with the same eyes again! They can all be used on twiddlemuffs. Not only that, but you can use all your oddments of wool too. Knitted on 6.5 mm needles, and with either chunky wool or two strands of double knit, they grow really quickly. I love to use textured wools on the outside, but just Google twiddlemuff designs, and you will find loads of lovely ideas and inspiration.
“These knitted muffs have items attached so that a patient with dementia can twiddle with their hands. People with dementia often have restless hands and like to have something to keep their hands occupied. It provides a wonderful source of visual, tactile and sensory stimulation and at the same time keeps hands snug and warm.” Royal Devon and Exeter NHS Foundation Trust
