2013 Campaign
– a collection of hats knitted by myself and other ‘Mad Hatters!’
Thank You
Some of my alphabet hats – organised into a special message…
“Hello Jo,
I just wanted to send you this. We’ve made some thank you cards using your alphabet letters for all of the people getting in touch to tell us they’ve been knitting. We made this special one for you to say a big thank you for everything you do for us on the Big Knit and for your general brilliance.
Cheers Helena”
After contacting Innocent Smoothies to share this website, they sent me a wonderful “Thank You” parcel.
I was touched by their generosity and wanted to share this with you.
A BIG Thank You to them.
Hats Knitted by Other Volunteers
Dorothy’s Hats
Dorothy works in colour batches, it makes it easier for her to keep track of the numbers. Dorothy knits ten and then threads a piece of yarn through them, so they can be counted in bundles. Can you spot the Wimbledon tribute batch and an Eddie Stobart batch? The Chelsea Centenary set are easy to see – they have a lovely floral theme!
Thank you for sending in your pictures Dorothy, they are really lovely.
Cindy’s Hats
This is Cindy’s first year for participating in the Big Knit Campaign, and she decided to make just one hat of every pattern she found. Little did she realise just where it was all going to lead when she started in January! She has now completed 130 hats and particularly liked making the little animals and characters.
Thank you for the photo Cindy and I look forward to seeing some of your hats in the Big Knit Advert!
Catherine’s Hats
Catherine has been working on her 100 hats for the Big Knit 2013 since it was announced earlier this year.
The Daleks and toadstools in the middle came out bigger than she expected, although I don’t suppose anyone will mind too much!
I particularly like the lions – they may be appearing on my website at some point, although they took Catherine ages to make. Each piece of wool for the mane had to be tied, one strand at a time!
The 12 hats top left are Catherine’s oldest daughter’s creations.
Helen and Alison’s Hats
Helen and Alison work in a school, but use their spare time in the summer holidays to knit hats for the Big Knit Campaign.
These are the hats they knitted this summer – you may spot some familiar designs.
I think the Innocent Smoothie Bottles are going to look very smart and colourful this November and should fly off the shelves in no time at all!
Marie-M’s Hats
Marie-M has been a fantastic supporter of Jo’s Big Knit since I first launched the website.
She has generously shared her ideas and patterns – so far I have used her Skating Sets, Barney Bags and Ollie Octopus. She has even sent some of these across to England, so I can see exactly what they are like.
Marie-M is keen for the little hats to be either eye catching or multi-purpose so that they fly off the shelves and raise lots of money for charity.
She has now become a very good friend.
Denise’s Hats
Denise has chosen to knit her hats using just pink and white wool.
They look really lovely as a whole selection.
Nice to see some familiar designs – and I just love the 100’s and 1000’s on the cupcake.
