Sweep Hat
Instructions:
Using 4 mm needles, cast on 28 stitches in grey double knit
Purl 2 rows
Continue in SS and work 2 rows.
K13 in grey, change to red to create the nose:
Knit into front and back of next stitch to create 3 stitches
Repeat this with the next stitch
Turn and purl these stitches
Turn K2tog, K next 2st, K2tog
Turn P2tog twice
Turn return to grey and K to end of row
Continue in SS and work 9 rows.
(K2 tog) repeat to end
(P2 tog) repeat to end
B & T tightly
Ears – make 2.
Start by casting on 2 stitches in black
Row 1: inc in both stitches
Rows 2 & 3: Knit
Row 4: inc in first st, K to end of row
Rows 5 & 6: Knit
Row 7: inc in first st, K to end of row
Rows 8 – 14: Knit
Row 15: K2tog, K to end of row
Row 16: Knit
Row 17: Knit to last two stitches K2tog
Row 18: K2tog to end, pass first stitch over the second.
B & T (this forms the top of the ear).
Making Up:
Use the red tail ends to create the right shape for the nose.
Sew on two beads / buttons for the eyes and join the head seam.
Sew ears to the side of the head as illustrated and create two eyebrows – I used a single stitch for each.
